You are committed to eating healthy and there is no better meat than what is raised locally.  It’s just difficult to figure out how to get that meat into your freezer in amounts that won’t overwhelm you.  It was so frustrating during the pandemic to know that there were available animals so close, but not being able to get them to the people that wanted them. Most people don’t know how to buy an animal from a rancher, the wait lists at the butcher shops are years long, and it is daunting having to deal with so much meat all at once.  

The bear river herd share solves all of these problems.  When you purchase a share, you become a part owner of the bear river herd that is sourced specifically with shareholders in mind.  The money is used for the purchase, maintenance and butchering of the animals. Every month the shareholder receives their bag of beef that holds a variety of cuts.  

Each bag will contain:

 15% top quality cuts.  That is your ribeye, t-bone, new york strip and tenderloin steaks.  

35% second level cuts  This includes cuts known for their flavor, such as tri-tip, sirloin, skirt steak, flank steak, brisket, etc.

50% third level cuts  This includes mostly ground beef and a small roast (you can request all ground beef, or a larger roast at time of purchase)

No two bags are exactly alike, giving you the opportunity to experience all the different cuts throughout the subscription.

Meet the Herd Managers

Tiko grew up next to the Bear River on the Proffit Ranch.  She has been riding horses and working cattle most of her life.  She received her college degree in Meat Science from the University of Wyoming and then came back home to raise her family with her husband, Morgan.  Morgan comes from Washington, but he fell in love with the cowboy way of life in Wyoming.

Morgan and Tiko love the ranch way of life and are ready to find the perfect animals from nearby ranches to bring to you.
